Who is this course for
This course is ideal for any staff who need to learn and apply the concepts of risk management and specifically understand the principles and language of the M_o_R method. For example Directors; All levels of Managers
Programme and Project Managers; Programme Office Staff; Business Change Managers; and Business Consultants.
Purpose of the course
This is the 3 day approach to gaining the Foundation qualification. It is an intense course that will require delegates to prepare thoroughly and be prepared for evening work throughout the course. The course includes the Foundation examination and prepares delegates for the Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner courses should they wish to move on to those levels.
You will learn how to
- Identify, assess and report on risks
- Use techniques to achieve the above
- Understand the differences between risk tolerance, risk appetite and risk exposure
- Understand different risk perspectives
Prerequisites
Delegates should have some familiarity with risk in a business context.We recommend that delegates leave no more than 3 months between Foundation and Practitioner courses and exams. Ideally no more than 4 weeks.

Additional Exam Information
The Foundation exam is a 1 hour closed book multiple choice exam. 35 marks required (out of 75 available) to pass - 50%, 5 questions to be trial and not counted in scores.If you are attending a Face to Face course your exam will be a paper-based exam during your course.
If you are attending a Virtual course you’ll be issued an exam voucher to take the exam at a time of your choosing. Please see PeopleCert’s website for the security requirements for the web based exam driver.
This course is eligible for the PeopleCert Take2 scheme, please discuss at point of booking if this is of interest to you.
Please note - it is compulsory to purchase the exam, although discretionary whether you take it.
Pre-Coursework
Several hours of pre-course preparation work is required, along with some evening work during the course. The M_o_R® Pre-Course book will be sent to you 4-6 weeks before the start of the course.Pre-course reading and post-course support on Quanta Learn, our e-learning portal.
Please note, there may be a small amount of evening work to complete such as further reading or working though sample exam papers.
